Monday, my husband and I made the painful decision to put our beloved Foxxy Mama to sleep. She is a beautiful, willful, 15-1/2 year old Pomeranian that was given to us over 3 years ago when her first Mom passed away. Foxxy was recently diagnosed with cancer and dementia and was riddled with arthritis that was progressing. I didn’t want to see her in pain or allow her to suffer at all, so after trying treatments to no avail it was time to make the most selfless decision as a pet parent.
We said good-bye and then realized we had a couple cases of canned dog food, a partial bag of dry food, many different kinds of opened treats and even leftover medications! What do you do with this stuff? There was so much of it and I wanted it to go to a good place. Then the Livingston County Humane Society popped into my head. But would they take opened bags and medications? One call to Karen Gregory and all my questions were answered. She said, “Cat, please help us get the word out that we will definitely take all of that. Our vets go through medications so fast and we will take anything you have”. So, in Foxxy’s name we pay it forward and help others.
