OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center was recently named one of the first hospitals to receive the Blue Distinction Center +  for Maternity Care.

This designation is new under the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program, which comes from the evaluation received concerning quality measures, such as the percentage of newborns that fall into the category of early elective delivery, as well as promoting successful breastfeeding and overall patient satisfaction.

Pam Meiner, community relations coordinator for the hospital, said this reflects the hard work the staff, physicians and all the support personnel put into the evaluation.

“It’s an objective group that has reviewed the service we give here and the quality we deliver that has given us this honorable distinction, so it really means a lot to us,” Meiner said.
