April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and the Livingston County Historic Courthouse will have special decorations to commemorate the event.

Judy Brucker, executive director of the Child Protection Network, was a guest on a recent Community Forum and explained the We Exist Campaign will include signs with pictures of children, accompanied by their stories and the assistance they received through the CPN. They will also have a pinwheel garden, with the number of pinwheels equaling the amount of forensic interviews they did in 2015 regarding child abuse allegations.
“I think it’s an important visual to remember that each of those pinwheels are going to represent a child who was seen at our center regarding sexual abuse or serious physical abuse and it gives us all an opportunity to remember that it does take a village to raise kids,” Brucker said.
