If you’ve ever been a fur-parent, at some point you’ve gotten the look. The look you get form that precious little face when you are cooking or eating. I get that look daily and sometimes I am ever so tempted to just accidentally “drop” a morsel or 2 for her. But then I stop and think not that I could be starting a very bad and irritating habit, but I think can she have this? I mean I know she can’t have chocolate, but what about this? I found a list of 9 dangerous foods to feed your dog and some of them were very surprising!

1.   Popcorn- high levels of fat and sodium can cause dehydration and obesity and the kernels are not digestible an can hurt their teeth and gums.

2.   Avocado-the skin and leaves are toxic and the large pit is obvious.

3.   Macadamia nuts-also toxic and can make you doggy very, very ill causing vomiting, loss of control of body movements, weakness and even depression.

4.   Grapes-grapes are among the most toxic people food to dogs and can lead to kidney failure and right out death!

5.   Onions and garlic-also toxic, can cause damage to the red blood cells decreasing oxygen flow which can cause anemia.

6.   Tomato plants and raw potatoes-ripe tomatoes are okay, but the green fruit, plant, leaves has a toxin that can cause gastrointestinal distress, lethargy, weakness and confusion. Same with green on the potato though mashed are okay.

7.   Coffee, tea or any caffeine-it is a dangerous stimulant which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, thirst, restlessness and an increased heart rate.

8.   Dairy-cheese can cause constipation or diarrhea.

9.   Anything sweetened with Xylitol-like gum, candy, etc… it can cause life threatening hypoglycemia.

Don’t feed your fur babies these foods and she could live to be a 15 year-old toothless Pomeranian like I have at home!
