The Livingston County Board met last night and voted to establish two county employee salaries.
Board Chairman Marty Fannin explained that this needs to be done at least 180 days before the general election. Fannin said the county has typically done it before the primary election. Last night, the circuit clerk’s salary was approved, but the coroner’s wasn’t. After a lengthy discussion, a new proposed resolution and two votes, the board ultimately decided to table the decision until the next board meeting.
“Mr. Weller made a point that we should get more information. When we make this decision, let’s be informed, so let’s look at calls and how many calls the deputy coroner does and just get more information,” Fannin said.
The podcast of Fannin’s Community Forum, where he further detailed the meeting, will be available at wjez.com later in the morning.
