Here’s what’s happening in the State of Illinois

Shared services, outsourcing, eliminating redundancy – whatever you want to call it, it’s happening via a pilot program between the city of Naperville and the Illinois Liquor Control Commission.
Terry Hortsman, ILCC spokesman, said local inspections, that are performed by the city, will focus on areas of local concern, such as health, sanitation, license and insurance verifications and deceptive advertising practices.
He says Naperville has the size and structure to pull this off, and, depending on the results of the six-month pilot program, this could be expanded, says Horstman.
The benefits include ILCC being able to focus more on big-picture initiatives, such as illegal importation, trade practice violations, and sale of alcohol to minors.

A census of things that fly is underway.
In other State news, the Christmas Bird Count is a production of the Audubon Society.

Tom Clay, executive director of the Illinois group, said they draw circles across the country. They’re 15-mile wide circles and one person is in charge of each circle. They recruit bird watchers.

Clay said they want species and totals.
This is the 116th event, running Dec. 14-Jan. 5.
