McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis, focusing on teen suicide, will participate with the issues-oriented MWAH! Performing Arts Troupe at Prairie Central Junior High School in Forrest, Illinois on Monday morning, December 7.
The essence of the 14-member MWAH! troupe (acronym for Messages Which Are Hopeful!), whose members live in the western suburbs of Chicago and the Rockford area, range in age from 9 to 16, is real life drama, combined with contemporary music and audience interaction.
The 90-minute presentation will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the school gym, located at 800 North Wood Street, followed by a one-hour debriefing-type discussion session involving a mix of students, including those who have experienced some of the issues which had just been presented – issues which this year have touched the Prairie Central School District and various communities throughout Illinois, including McLean and Livingston counties. Those include drug use and suicide.
The group will teach a common thread is choices and the importance of making the right ones.
