The Livingston County War Museum-Dal Estes Education Center in Pontiac has been chosen for yet another prestigious award.
The Illinois Association of Museums recently announced the war museum has been given the Volunteer Institution of the Year award.
Ed Long, museum president, said receiving this award was quite an honor for the museum.
“It means a lot to all the volunteers and shows their efforts do pay off. We do feel we have one of the finest military museums in all of Illinois. We may not be the richest museum, but I guarantee when people come in, they’re going to have an experience,” Long said.
In the award announcement letter to the museum, the IAM said it applauded the effort the museum has accomplished with its force of dedicated volunteers and with limited revenue.
The award will be given during a ceremony scheduled for Sept. 24 in Springfield.
