Next Wednesday is Ag Day at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield, and a Pontiac couple is up for a prestigious award through the Farm Bureau Young Leaders program.

Jesse and Mary Faber are in the running for the Excellence in Ag Award and Jody Hughes, manager of the Livingston County Farm Bureau, said this award recognizes people in the ag industry.

“This is an award that is given to people who are very active in the ag industry, show some leadership roles, so it recognizes them for their effort and we’re excited to see how they do, but we’re very proud of them either way,” Hughes said.

The award will be given Tuesday, Aug. 18, in Springfield.
