The Livingston County War Museum-Dal Estes Education Center acquired a new uniform last week – one that has much local significance.
The uniform of Colonel Robert Edwards was donated to the museum by his sister-in-law, Virginia Bradshaw. Edwards and his wife were murdered in their home January 21, 1983, and although the murders remain unsolved, his uniform making an appearance at the museum gives people a chance to remember him for something bigger.
Jack Murphy, past museum president, said he was a Vietnam War hero, with a list of medals and accomplishments that prove the things he did for his country.
“We’re honored to put it on display here,” Murphy said. “Obviously he’s a man who should be remembered for the great deeds that he did while he was here with us and while he served his country and not the unfortunate end of his life.”
Murphy added Edwards was one of the top Vietnam War heroes and a great soldier.
