The Livingston County Board met with an audience of hundreds awaiting for the vote of the fate of the Pleasant Ridge Wind Farm.
After much explanation, the board voted 13-9, with two members absent, to accept the recommendation by the zoning board of appeals to deny the special use permit by Invenergy.
Board Chairman Marty Fannin explained what happens now that the application has been denied.
“We’re working on the ordinance next,” Fannin said. “Tonight, we extended the moratorium to give us a little more time to finish that up. We’ve made some substancial work on it, but there’s still a lot of work to do and they’re really going to be putting their nose to the grindstone to try to get that finished before the moratorium is up.”
Fannin will be a guest on Community Forum later this morning.
(Plenty of people, both opposed or in support of the wind farm, voiced their opinions during public comment, and most told the board they appreciated all the time they put into these hearings and the decision.
