Compeer Financial, a cooperative providing financial services to agricultural clients in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois, has awarded two area fire departments with grants to buy new equipment, the Pontiac Daily Leader reports.

A 1300 dollar Emergency Response Equipment Program Grant was awarded to the Saunemin Fire Protection District, while the Flanagan-Graymont Fire Protection District received the maximum amount of three thousand dollars.

Brent Byarley, a financial officer with Compeer Financial in Pontiac, says the county would have been lucky to receive just one grant, and to receive two speaks to the quality of service in the area.
