The teacher shortage for Prairie Central schools doesn’t seem to be getting better. The Pontiac Daily Leader reports that Prairie Central Superintendent Paula Crane told members of the district’s board Thursday night that education continues to get bad press, which is not good for recruiting.
Crane said the Illinois State Board of Education continues to set the bar high and that eliminates flexibility for schools. In other business, board members talked at length about a transportation purchase plan that would eliminate all of the leased buses. The board voted to get bids for eight new 77-passenger buses and one wheelchair bus.
