The Pontiac Public Library has been holding a special group for grade school students, called STEAM Team, for the past few months and it is gaining such popularity that a waitlist has been put into place.
STEAM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, is an initiative area schools have adopted in the recent months, and the library is taking advantage in the interest by offering activities that fall into step with that curriculum, and while the events are currently full, Library Director Kristin Holzhauer says there’s still a chance your child could possibly participate.
“Messy Art May has been a big hit for STEAM Team. Our two events for May were the 11 and upcoming on the 25th. Those sessions have been filled, but we do have a waitlist going right now, so if you’re still interested in being part of Messy Art May, you’re welcome to stop by the library and put your name on the list. The night of the event, if we do not have 25 people in the room at the start of the event, I will start calling people on the waitlist in the order that you were put on the list until we hit a max of 25,” Holzhauer said.
Registration for June STEAM Team activities or waitlist for Thursday are still being accepted, either in person at the library or by calling 844-7229.
