The National Association of Letter Carriers will be holding the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive and Pontiac’s employees and many other volunteers will be out collecting throughout the day Saturday.
Clerk Carol Faust explains how people can participate.
“This week, we will be sending out paper bags. They will be delivered to every home in Pontiac and most of the businesses, as well. You just put food in the bag, non perishables. Anything you would like to donate. It can be cans of soup or toilet paper, Kleenex, diapers or stuff for babies – anything that’s non perishable you can donate, preferably non in glass jars. And then we drive around town and help the carriers out and we pick up the donations and then we’ll take them to the food pantries for distribution to the public,” Faust said.
People in uniform, as well as volunteers in street clothes, will be picking up bags on Saturday.
