The Livingston County Soil and Water Conservation District is holding its spring fish sale.
Education coordinator Debbie Ruff has all the details.
“In past years, it’s been really dry and a lot of ponds were low, then we had a lot of water and the ponds overflowed and lost a lot of fish, so this is your opportunity to get your ponds in balance. The fish are meant for restocking, they’re not meant to eat. We offer a wide variety of fish that are meant for ponds in this area, such as the channel cats, or the albino cats. We have sunfish and largemouth bass and bluegill. We also offer the grass carp, which you need a permit for, so that’s why we have an earlier registration date for those,” Ruff said.
Orders for the Grass Carp will be accepted through March 15 and all others through March 24. Payment is expected at the time of the order. Pick up will be from 11 to noon April 4th at the office, located at 1510 W. Reynolds Street in Pontiac. For more information, call 844-6127 extension 3.
