COVID-19 Update: Another Rise in Fatalities

by Todd Wineburner

The latest figures from the Livingston County Health Department include two county residents who lost their lives due to complications from COVID-19 infection. A man and a woman, both in their 80s, passed away last week and their deaths increase the fatality total to 72.

8 other infections were reported among county residents last week as well, bringing the total number of active cases to 121.

In other news from the Health Department, reports show that Livingston County has received 2,840 doses of the Moderna vaccination and health department clinics have administered 2,865 doses. Extra doses of vaccine can sometimes be drawn from a vial and that accounts for the apparent mismatch in the figures.

Currently, county residents over age 65 and educators are receiving top priority status for vaccination. For more information about the current situation, listen to our Community Forum with Erin Fogarty. It’s available at WJEZ.com or at Facebook.com/989wjez.
