COVID-19 Vaccination Update Plus More Reported Cases

By Todd Wineburner

The Livingston County Health Department is working to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to those eligible. Health Education and Marketing Director Erin Fogarty says the county has received 700 doses of the Moderna vaccine and 560 of those have been administered. The remaining doses are earmarked for others included in Phase IA of vaccine distribution. That group includes healthcare providers, caregivers, clergy, and long-term care facilities. Anyone in this group who has questions about obtaining a vaccination should contact the health department at (815) 844-7174 ext 216. Health Department Administrator Jackie Dever says it’s difficult to know exactly what the state will make available at any given time, but adds that as vaccines become available they’ll be distributed to individuals following the protocols set down by state health officials.

In the latest report on the status of the county, the health department reports that 40 new cases were identified on Wednesday (1/13). 33 county residents and 7 inmates at Pontiac Correctional Center make up the latest list. That increases the county’s number of active cases to 233. 62 fatalities have resulted from COVID-19 complications.
