Health Department Expects COVID-19 Vaccine Soon

By Todd Wineburner

The Livingston County Health Department says the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine should arrive in the area in the next 1 to 2 weeks. Erin Fogarty, Department Health Education and Marketing Director, says the county’s initial doses will be distributed to local hospitals to inoculate health care workers with high-risk duties. Emergency Medical workers and those working in long-term care facilities will also be high-priority recipients of the vaccine.

Fogarty says the health department continues to maintain regular communication with OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, as well as long-term care facilities and other Livingston County medical organizations to ensure efficient and safe distribution of the vaccine once it’s available.
