By Todd Wineburner

Last week ended with another increase in the total number of COVID-19 infections in Livingston County. The health department says 55 new cases were reported on Friday along with one new case at the Pontiac Correctional Center.

That means the week begins with 238 active COVID-19 cases in the county. One death was reported last week as well, meaning 47 lives have now been lost to complications of COVID-19.

More information about the progress of the disease is available at the Livingston County Health Department website, LCHD.us. COVID-19 testing remains available weekday mornings at OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center. Appointments for testing are strongly encouraged and can be made at the website as well. Weekend numbers for the pandemic should be released later this afternoon.
