Boys and Girls Club CEO Says Her Facilities are Safe for Kids

By Todd Wineburner

Jodi Martin, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Livingston County, wants parents to send their children to the club with peace of mind. In a recent conversation with WJEZ, Martin cited a study out of Yale University that concluded that child care centers with appropriate safety measures in place are not spreading COVID-19 infection to their communities. According to Martin, the study concludes that local communities are more of a risk to child care centers than vice versa.

Martin says the Boys and Girls Clubs in Livingston County are working hard to maintain appropriate safety measures including restricting adult access to their facilities and requiring children to wash their hands frequently, in spite of the children’s resistance. Martin points out that no cases of COVID-19 infection have been traced to area clubs.

The Yale University study interviewed over 57,000 child care workers to reach its conclusions.
