Join “Jesse’s Ride” To Help Veterans and 1st Responders

By Todd Wineburner

About seven years ago, Pastor Carlin Ours lost his son, Jesse, to the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder–PTSD. Jesse’s condition was brought on by his service in Iraq as an Army infantry soldier and his parents decided to pay tribute to their son by creating an event designed to help those facing similar struggles.

Carlin Ours now serves as pastor of the First Lutheran Church of Pontiac and “Jesse’s Ride” has followed him. The event is a fundraiser that features a poker run, a vendor fair, live music, food, and raffle and silent auction items.

All types of vehicles are eligible for the poker run, and participants don’t have to make the run to be part of the event.

Everything gets started Saturday morning (9/26) with registration and other events starting at 8 a.m.

For a complete calendar of events and registration information, search for Jesse’s Ride & Run for PTSD on Facebook, or visit www.firstlutheranpontiac.org.
