The next GED preparatory classes at Heartland Community College start on January 13th, and Steve Fast, Heartland’s Director of Public Information, says the free courses can mark an important change in a person’s working life. “Studies show that having a high school credential is almost essential to get any job,” Fast said in a recent interview with WJEZ. “If you want to take that next step and get that credential, you can start classes at Heartland afterwards to move up in your educational path….However people need to get there, we want to offer that conduit with getting your GED and beyond.”
Preparatory classes are offered Monday and Wednesday evenings, and Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The classes are held in Heartland’s facility on the 2nd floor of the public library. The Heartland facility can also administer the GED exam, and Fast says testing will be offered twice a week. More information is available at Heartland.edu or by calling (309) 268-8960.
