NCAA football’s Division III National Championship game is Friday night (12/20/19) and three Pontiac alums will be part of the action. Colton Bauknecht, Tyler Rich, and Gavin Bauknecht are all on the roster at North Central College in Naperville, and they’ll be suited up for the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah, Texas.
Pontiac District 90 Superintendent Jon Kilgore took a moment during a recent WJEZ interview to praise the former Indians. “They’re…studs, actually,” Kilgore said, “so it’s really cool they play integral roles on the team at a national championship opportunity.”
Colton Bauknecht is a starter on the offensive line, while Tyler Rich starts at defensive end. Gavin Bauknecht is in his freshman year and will be suited up for the game as well.
The number 5 ranked North Central Cardinals will take on the number 7 Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks at 7 o’clock Friday night. The game will be televised on ESPN-U and available through ESPN streaming services.
