Ink Might Soon Flow in Chenoa

By A.J. Harris and the WJEZ staff

The Chenoa City Council last week passed an ordinance allowing body art businesses in the city. That paves the way for a proposed tattoo shop at 102 E. Cemetery. Tattoos and body modifications have been available for centuries, but their commercial viability has grown significantly over the last several years. Providers of these services have become increasingly common, even in areas where they weren’t traditionally allowed. Until relatively recently, tattoo businesses weren’t allowed in Livingston County, for example.

In the discussion in Chenoa there was no significant dissent regarding a tattoo shop within the community. The general consensus was that tattoos are mainstream, carefully regulated businesses that weren’t a particular cause for concern.

Also discussed at the meeting was establishing a new way to notify customers who were late with their water payments, as the current method of notification will no longer be viable once the new billing system is implemented.
