Cooling Centers Available

Dangerously hot conditions continue today (Friday) and through the weekend around Central Illinois.

To make sure people stay safe, the Livingston County Public Safety Complex will use its lobby as a cooling center until Monday morning. People can also call PATH at 2-1-1 to find other cooling centers in the area.

The National Weather Service has an excessive heat watch in effect until 7 o’clock Satruday night. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 90s with heat index values reaching 105-110 degrees.

The weather service advises people to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Also don’t leave children, the elderly, or pets in unattended parked vehicles.
