The Pontiac Indians softball squad takes on Galesburg today at 4:30 after overcoming both U-High and Mother Nature to take the regional trophy. Last Friday’s championship game had to be moved when heavy rains flooded the field just before game time at Bloomington’s Illinois Wesleyan University. Rather than calling the game, officials decided to move the contest to Normal’s Maxwell Park.
The Indians took the championship with a final score of 3 to 1. Coach Nicole Hayner said she was proud of her squad for overcoming some unexpected challenges and bringing home the win.
Pontiac now takes their 29-and-4 record into Sectional competition at Peoria Notre Dame. Their contest with the Silver Streaks of Galesburg starts this afternoon at 4:30.
