Detailed information regarding registered sex offenders in Livingston County is available at livingstoncountysheriff.com, and Sheriff Tony Childress says checking the latest information can give parents some peace of mind at Halloween. Childress says the department website includes a link to Offenderwatch—a service that shows the addresses of known sex offenders in the county. Childress says each county resident should check their own address, as well as the addresses of friends or relatives. He says this it’s important to have detailed information if children are going to be trick-or-treating or spending time away from home. Offenderwatch also allows parents to set up email alerts so that they’ll be notified if a registered sex offender moves into their area. At livingstoncountysheriff.com, parents should look for the Offenderwatch link at the bottom of the page. Childress says he wants everyone to have a safe and happy Halloween, but he cautions that there are currently 95 registered sex offenders in Livingston County and he says good information is the best way to stay safe on Halloween or any other day.
