Governor Bruce Rauner during a previous visit to Livingston County

The big roar you heard through town Sunday was all for charity.

Governor Bruce Rauner and hundreds of bikers were cruising down historic Route 66 to raise funds for the Chicago Honor Flight Association.

Rauner led the motorcycle ride that started in Shorewood and made stops in Pontiac, Lexington, and Lincoln before ending in Springfield.

While the group was stopped in Pontiac the governor  made a Route 66 motorcycle license plate presentation at the Route 66 Association Hall of Fame & Museum.

At the end of the Sunday ride all the riders were invited to a barbecue at the governor’s mansion in Springfield.
