In Fairbury, the Oddfellow’s Lodge is taking orders for their annual sandbox fill. “We’re gonna start at 9 a.m. (Saturday) June 2nd,” says Lodge Member Arnold Ifft. He says reservations need to be made before that delivery date, though, so that the group knows how much sand to order. A wheelbarrow full of sand runs 5 dollars, and he adds that nothing is going to waste because any leftover sand will go to Fairbury public parks. Ifft says the annual project isn’t really a moneymaker for the group, but members are happy to do it for the community and for the fun of seeing kids hitting the fresh sand to play.
