The Illinois State Fair held its agriculture day Tuesday, with the sights and sounds pertaining to all things ag.
Jim Martin, District 6 Director for the Illinois Soybean Association, spent the day at the fair and attended the Ag Day Brunch with the likes of State Representative Tom Bennett, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture Raymond Poe and Governor Bruce Rauner. Martin said there are so many facets of agriculture, and people could learn about it, especially the importance of soybeans.
“There’s other livestock shows throughout the week and we’re telling them to look at those animals and have an appreciation for the hard work that people put into raising that livestock. Those pigs and chickens are the number one customer of our Illinois soybeans,” Martin said.
Martin also said people can visit them to learn more during the 2017 Farm Progress Show in Decatur August 29-31.
