“Miracles One at a Time for Jalene,” a fundraiser to benefit 8-year-old Jalene Woolford of Pontiac is happening July 8 beginning at 3 p.m. at the Pontiac Elks Club.
Organizer Mandy Frame describes the young lady and why so many people are coming together to help out both her and her family.
“Jalene is a student at St. Mary’s Catholic School here in Pontiac. She’s 8 years old. She’s currently in the battle of her life after being diagnosed with an inoperable spinal tumor. She’s a spiritual girl, and optimistic child. This can be credited to her parents and their strong faith in God and family. Her family and entire community are praying for a miracle for Jalene. Currently, she has been staying at the Ronald McDonald House near Loyola Hospital while she receives her chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Despite these hardships, Jalene has kept her spunk and even nicknamed her tumor Penny Pain in the Neck,” Frame said.
Included in the day will be a carnival, dance party, silent and live auctions, carriage rides, music, a chicken dinner and much more. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be bought at the door.
