Governor Bruce Rauner is calling for unity as lawmakers head into a 10 day special session.

The governor is urging the house and senate to pass a Republican plan that was outlined last week, saying it’s truly balanced, funds schools and includes property tax relief.

“If we can agree to pass it, this plan will send a message across our state and around our nation, that we are serious about making Illinois a more attractive destination for investment, new businesses and new jobs. If we can agree to pass it, we will stop this unnecessary crisis,” Rauner said.

The governor says this may be one of the most important legislative sessions in Illinois history and that failure to act may cause permanent damage to our state.
