The Vermillion Players will kick off the summer season at Chautauqua Park in Pontiac with “The Producers: A New Mel Brooks Musical,” June 15 through 18.

Actor Dylan Webster describes the show.

“The show is absolutely hilarious. I know we’ve all enjoyed rehearsals a lot. The main theme of the show is there’s two main characters, my character Max Bialystok and Leo Blume, who have decided to come up with a plan to put on the biggest flop in history for a Broadway show, because they find they can make more money if they put on a flop than if it’s a hit. But, the problem is it ends up being a hit, so there’s hijinks that ensue and it’s just all out hilarity,” Webster said.

Tickets are sold at the door, which open at 6:30 for the 7:30 productions. People are asked to use caution when bringing children, as some material may be offensive to some.
