The first will be Sunday, with Rooks Creek’s 133rd service, being held at 3 p.m. at the Rooks Creek Cemetery. The service will be abbreviated compared to past years. Included in the day will be the laying of a wreath in honor of the veterans from Rooks Creek Township and a prayer given by Retired Navy Veteran Tony Arrigo. The Flanagan American Legion Post 456 will conduct the military portion of the service.
Pontiac’s program will begin at 9 a.m. Monday with a parade stepping off from Central School, leading to Southside Cemetery. There will be music, prayers and the speaker of the day will be Scot Schickel, United States Marine veteran. The program will end with a 21 gun salute.
