PROUD carnival to begin today

PROUD is holding its carnival at the parking lot in Vermilion Plaza in conjunction with the Red Carpet Corridor today through Sunday.

Interim Director Jessi Finkenbinder describes the event.

“Soothing music helps. Some of our dogs, especially the new ones into the shelter, we have Adaptil collars, which are calming collars. The thunder shirts we don’t get to use as much, because those are something you teach a dog to use over a period of time, and thankfully, our dogs don’t stay with us that long that we can use them. As a last resort, if we’re going to go through a period of storms like we did Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we can use a mild prescription if the doctor deems it necessary, if he thinks the dogs are going to bounce off the cages or something like that. So, there are a lot of things you can do,” Gregory said.
