A Democratic Illinois gubernatorial candidate wants to highlight what he believes to be clear similarities between Republican Governor Bruce Rauner and President Donald Trump.
Chicago Alderman Ameya Pawar says that the two Republicans both ran on Populist agendas, but have so far failed to deliver in policy….
“Both of these guys (Bruce Rauner and Donald Trump) ran as Populists, but once they get into office, they bow down to they very wealthy and they serve the interests of a few,” Pawar said.
Pawar represents Chicago’s 47th Ward.
The 37-year-old joins a growing field of candidates in the hunt for the Democratic gubernatorial bid, including billionaire J.B. Pritzker, businessman Chris Kennedy, State Senator Daniel Biss, downstate regional superintendent Bob Daiber and small-business owner Alex Paterakis.
