The Village of Dwight is looking for growth, and has a couple plans in the works for not only beautification projects, but also incentives to grow the population.
Village President Jared Anderson explained some of the steps the village has taken to make home building a little more feasible in the community.
“By the time you went and built a house, you might have had $10-$15,000 in permits. What we did is we waived all that to just $1000 fee and we want to, going into the future as a village board, we’ll see how that works out, we’d like to come up with a plan where we can abate the city taxes. I’d like to work with the schools and see if we can get them to do some sort of abatement. Hopefully, we entice some home building in Dwight. That would help. We need to grow our population,” Anderson said.
Anderson was a guest on a recent Community Forum, where he details several other aspects of the projects. That podcast is available at wjez.com.
