The investigation into the death of a Pontiac man continues with multiple agencies assisting.
According to the Peoria County Coroner’s office, Steven J. Mrozek was pronounced brain dead shortly before midnight on Saturday. He was found unresponsive between two buildings in Pontiac late Friday evening. He was originally taken to OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center, where he was later flown to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where he remained unresponsive.
An autopsy is completed and toxicology results are pending. While details of the cause of his severe head injuries are unclear, those injuries are what contributed to his death.
Pontiac Police, Illinois State Police and Peoria County Coroner’s office continue to investigate.
