Illinois broke a three-game skid with a 68-61 triumph at Northwestern. The Illini recorded their first road win of the season. Malcolm Hill led the Illini with 14 points. Illinois is home Saturday against Penn State, who upset Number 21 Maryland 70-64 on Tuesday while Michigan hammered Michigan State 86-57 in the other Big Ten action.
​Illinois State pulled away from Drake with an 18-5 run in the second half for an 82-53 win on Wednesday night. Paris Lee led the Redbirds with 26 points and Keyshawn Evans chipped in a career high 16 points. The Redbirds are now 20-5 with a 12-1 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Birds host Bradley on Saturday night at 9:00.
Illinois Wesleyan men return to Shirk Center tonight to face the Bluejays of Elmhurst. Tip is at 7 o’clock with Titan Preview beginning at 6:30 on AM 1230 and WJBC.com. The Titan women visit North Park.
On the high school hardwood, in the girls Class 2A regional in El Paso, Fieldcrest beat host El Paso-Gridley 30-24 and Peoria Christian elminated Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland 53-47, while Dwight lost 44-34 to Reed-Custer in Gardner. In boys regular season play, Coal City defeated Pontiac 53-41.
The Blues won a laugher at Ottawa 6-0. The Blackhawks are at Minnesota tonight in the only NHL action of the evening.
The Bulls visit the Golden State Warriors tonight.
