When a person is preparing to retire, how much are they still able to work and earn through wages?

Jack Myers with the Social Security Administration explains the limit for 2017.

“There is a limitation on how much you can work and earn within a calendar year if you want to collect Social Security benefits and you’re under your full retirement age. That limit in 2017 is $16,920. So, you want to stay under that but still be ready to collect the benefits when the time comes,” Myers said.

Myers was a guest on a recent Community Forum, where he answered many frequently asked questions. That Forum is available in the podcast section at WJEZ.com.
