Prairie Central Elementary School in Fairbury is holding its annual Pint-Sized Hero blood drive Tuesday from noon to 6.

Principal Paula Crane said students are tasked with recruiting donors and, since they are too young to donate blood themselves, seeing all the people coming in to donate shows that they are helping to make a difference.

“The kids work so hard at what they do and for them to be able to feel like they’re a part of something bigger where they can make a difference, it would be great if their friends and relatives supported that for them, just so they can get that really good ‘feel good’ feeling of giving back to the community, because his is really a lesson in this. So, if they could support them, that would be great,” Crane said.

Crane also said those who can’t make it Tuesday but donate at the Fairbury United Methodist Church’s monthly blood drive can still participate by giving organizers the name of the student who recruited them.
