The new 100th General Assembly came together Wednesday, and got to work on the Illinois budget.
Senator Jason Barickman said things are getting serious, as the stop gap budget expired at the end of 2016.
“We are in unchartered territory right now and the need for our state to have a budget – a balanced budget, specifically – is critical. The path forward to doing that is one that is going to take bipartisanship, some compromise and negotiations, and I think you’re seeing that in the Senate. Now, whether that translates to positive action in the House, remains to be seen, but I think we’re trying to play our part, to do our part and put some pressure on our counterparts to get something done,” Barickman said.
