The Livingston County Board met Thursday evening and set a date for an excess property auction for items remaining in the former Livingston Manor building, located south of Pontiac on Route 66.
Board Chairman Bob Young explained that this auction is just one of the final things the county needs to finish before demolition.
“What we’re presently doing, even before the auction, we’re getting people to give bids. We’ve had a walk through already and I think we had ten or 11 companies that were interested on bidding on the demolition. We have to get the asbestos out, and I think we had about 20 that bid on the removal of the asbestos. So, when we get the asbestos out, we have the sale, it’s done. We get the bids, we take the lowest responsible bidder, and it’ll be coming down,” Young said.
The auction is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. February 11 at the former nursing home.
