Two arrested on drug charges

Two men were arrested for felony drug possession in rural Dwight Thursday around noon.

According to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Police, an ongoing investigation led to a traffic stop, where Edgar Bello of Elgin and Augustin Barboza of Peoria were found in possession of felony amounts of LSD and cocaine and a misdemeanor amount of marijuana. They were also found in possession of drug paraphernalia and more than $1,000 cash.

The pair was taken into custody on separate drug charges. Bello was officially charged with possession of a controlled substance and no court records were available for Barboza, though the incident is under investigation with additional charges pending.

Agencies involved with the traffic stop included the Livingston County Proactive Unit, the US Department of Homeland Security/Immigrations Customs Enforcement, sheriff’s patrol and Pontiac Police K9 Unit.
