The Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway will be holding the first 90th Birthday Party of Route 66 in the state on April 21 from 1-4 at the Ambler/Becker Texaco gas station in Dwight.
Bill Kelly of the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway said the event will feature the restored gas station and show visitors all the history of the area, as well as take advantage of the presence of the Bassett Hounds, which are a fixture in the area, naming the first ever Ambassetor.
“That’s what 66 visitors are looking for is a unique experience on the road. We thought to celebrate the birthday and introduce them to our Route 66 Bassett Ambassetor,” Kelly said.
This event is free and family friendly.
