The Pontiac Police will be bidding farewell to a longtime officer at the end of the month.

Sgt. James Morgan, who many know as Bumper, has spent 32 years with Pontiac Police and is planning his retirement and Chief Jim Woolford said Morgan has been invaluable to the department, from holding many positions within the department to bringing his Army Reserves experience to daily work.

“Sgt. Morgan has always been known as the guy who will go and get it done. He’s been entrusted with so many responsibilities here. He maintains our list of warrants that are outstanding. He’s kind of known as the Pontiac PD bloodhound. If he’s looking for you, you’re not going to escape Sgt. Morgan,” Woolford said.

An open house will be held at the department Wednesday, March 30, from noon to 2, which will include a presentation of his duty firearm as part of the retirement ceremony.
