While the term “square foot gardening” has been trending online for awhile, Kelly Allsup, University of Illinois Extension Horticulture Educator, gives some tips to help people interested in trying it out.

Allsup said it works best when someone who would like to experiment with different vegetables but doesn’t have a lot of land or time to contribute to it because it’s a raised bed. There are other benefits to square foot gardening, as well.
