A Pontiac man was arrested Monday after a stolen gun was found in a vehicle.

According to Pontiac Police Major Dan Davis, the gun was found during a traffic stop late Monday morning. The loaded pistol was found under the passenger seat where Chance Chapman, 19, of Pontiac, was sitting. It was later confirmed that gun was stolen from Champaign County.

Chapman was arrested and jailed. He has been formally charged with several felony counts, including possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
