Cat’s Take: What it takes to get people to notice weight loss

lose weight

By Cathi Coppinger

Every year during the holidays, we stuff our faces … then make New Year’s resolutions to get in shape. I make that resolution cos I feel it is easier to keep than, say, being nicer! Haha. Have you ever lost like 3-5 pounds and you can tell in the way your clothes fit, but no one else says a word? A new study figured out EXACTLY how much weight you have to lose for other people to notice. Even better, they figured out how much weight you have to lose for people to think you look more ATTRACTIVE. The average woman would have to lose EIGHT POUNDS for someone to notice. For the purposes of the study, they’re saying the average woman is five-foot-four. They average guy would have to lose nine pounds for someone to notice. The average guy is five-foot-ten.

But having people notice doesn’t necessarily mean you look “better.” For people to think you actually look more attractive, the average woman has to lose FOURTEEN pounds. The average guy has to lose EIGHTEEN pounds. So, yeah … once people notice, you gotta double it to look hotter. It’s based on your face, since your cheeks are one of the first places your body stores extra weight. I’m sorry, but I disagree. I have big cheek bones, that’s all!!
